Please help - The missus thinks I've gone mad

We decided to have a spring clean today and this involved a lot of polishing. The good lady is now accusing me of spraying the polish all over the tiled floor surfaces as we are slipping on both tiles and carpets. I have assured her that I only sprayed the polish where it was supposed to go and NOT over the floor.
My explanation to her is that, because we were both wearing slippers with rubber soles, that static electricity has somehow got involved and this is causing us to slip.
Is this possible or am I just a cr*p aim??

I'd be amazed if static electricity caused this effect. In fact I'd happily be hit with a spanner if it was the cause.

More than likely it's the vapour, from spraying whatever chemicals you're using, falling onto the floor that's causing the problems. It doesn't take much!

If you're slipping on carpets then maybe open some windows... nice smell these aerosols.

I agree with drjohn. Doesn't sound like static to me. If you've been spraying near the floor area, then part of the mist can easily go elsewhere and settle on the floor. And it can make it very slippery.

Could be you've both stood on a patch of spray mist that's fallen to the floor, and the soles of your shoes have become coated in it. But I agree with baileys too!
