How do moulds get to grow on bread?

They're in small amounts the air, so they're floating around an land on the bread. It's heaven to them, and they happily set up home.
I often find the bread I have eaten has a mould around the crust. Over the years I must have eaten loads. I know they create penicillen from it so I must be permanently on antibiotics.
