hey,

dna is found in the cells of every species. It contains the genetic material or blueprint for the cell.

Dna is a very complex molecule so to cut it short for you it contains four bases:
adenine - A
Thymine - T
Guanine - G
Cytosine - C

These bases ALWAYS join A-T & G-C. And they join together by weak hydrogen bonds so that it can easily be broken for the replcation of more DNA (transcription & translocation)

these four bases are all joined to a sugar phosphate backbone consistiing of Phosphate and deoxiribose sugar which are held together by strong covalent bonds.

Peanut273, I'd be very wary about stating that "dna is found in the cells of every species".

It's not true - there are cells that do not contain DNA. Taking it further, are you saying that "dna is found in the cells of every species" OR "dna is found in EVERY cell of every species".

Even if you know exactly which of the above two statements you mean, you should be able to see that your sentence could be misinterpreted all too easily by others.

Its interesting you say that however as its got me thinking...about the cells that do not contain DNA...
