There are sophiticated code generators that but that is really just automating the donkey work of actually writing the stuff.

Attempts at AI have really been ever more complex linear software, all be it executed on parallel processors. I don't belifve AI has been achieved.
another attempt at the Turing test, squarebear, never been passed, not AI at all. Just standard linear programming.
Bit of a cop-out that one, squarebear. Standard response to any awkward questions is "I don't have to explain everything to you, do I?"
