If light shines infinitely and in all directions and has been doing so since the beginning why is the universe black. Is it that immense that all the light that ever shone has not been able to keep up with expansion?
Two reasons.
Firstly, the Universe is finite in size as far as observation of it from any point is concerned (limited by the speed of light/distance) and secondly, dark matter between the stars and galaxies also causes obscuration.
