I saw someone do this years ago with a surveyor's transit. We were observing a lunar eclipse at the time. They were not aiming for a mirror but must have just got lucky . . . the numbers (distance) were spot on! And no, I don't expect anyone to believe this story. We couldn't believe it ourselves at the time either, and for obvious reasons I still have my doubts ? ? ?
Eddie, can you provide a source for information regarding this experiment you're referring to?

There is a particularly good reason for knowing that this is not a hoax.
The Apollo 11 Astronauts left the Lunar retroreflector
http://science.nasa.g...-nasa/2004/21jul_llr/
This allows scientists to bounce laser beams off of the moon and measure its distance to within cm.
There have been simply hundreds of scientists from countries around the world that have been involved in this - not least a French team working just outside of the Cote 'Azur (nice gig!)
The idea that all of these have been part of the conspiracy too is really stretching it way too far

Perlease, not another plonker who believes all that conspiracy theory broccoli! Give me strength, are there still people who believe this? All anomolies debunked to order. Fluttering flags etc, kids stuff F_F_S. Laser reflectors already mentioned. Another clincher is that Apollo 11 was tracked by the Russians, they where given the frequency, remember the cold war, space race etc. Do you think the Russians would have loved to have shown up the Yanks? Think about it!
Then there's the 800lbs of moon rock that has been examined by thousands. Any serious lab can apply for a sample to examine. Horizon did a program a few years ago on how you'd go about faking moon rock, ie good enough to fool an amateur geoligist. They declared at the end it would be easiier to go to the moon and get some. So sandy and co please stop this drivel.
