yes, too much of anything can be harmful

Further to this can I ask a serious question....

I can go out to a pub and easily drink say 6 pints of Lager more even....Yet I drink a pint of water and I feel full for ages and could not attempt Two, why's this?

Drinking too much water can result in the brain literally drowning. I remember two girls died of this some time ago. Suprisingly it wasn't a great quantity of water.
I may be wrong but I think that you can drink too much water due to the process of osmosis. If there is a lot of water floating around in your body then the concentration of salts or minerals outside the body's cells becomes less than that inside your cells due to being diluted. The cells start taking in water to try to redress this balance and can burst, causing a lot of damage. Perhaps beer doesn't have the same effect. It's not exactly a scientific answer, but I think there is some truth in it!
anthomson, i guess that'd be ecstasy related? the advice on it used to be "make sure you drink lots of water" but these days they're telling us kids that you have to have a pint over the course of every hour so you don't dehydrate or overhydrate (and i doubt that that's a word, but never mind)
yes, this would be known as water intoxification.
