I support two Charities all year round, so do nothing different at Christmas.

For the last five years, I have volunteered at a local homeless charity. I usually do Christmas eve and boxing day. This year my eldest child is helping out, too.
I always have a good laugh and really, really enjoy it :-)

Crisis at Christmas gets a donation from my winter fuel allowance.

salvation army, a few local charities... a few pound here and there and odd change when there is a box by the till for a charity I support

When you read about a woman in Ulverston Cumbria so called Great Britain, walking to Barrow-in-furness in the pouring rain to the food store then walking back because she could not afford the bus fair! Charity? the way things are going in the Country it may come to the point when the outside world is collecting for us. " Charity starts at home"

There are about 180,000 registered charities in England and Wales. I'm not unsympathetic and I do contribute, but is it right that people in need should be so dependent on charity?

I don't think I can quantify it in a monetary sense, but as someone said above I give when and where I can. Also occasionally do stuff like quizzes and prizes for the local Hospice.

I give to my favourite charities all year round and not just at christmas.

Near to where we live there is a Derian House charity shop, and a local animal charity shop, so if Mrs mm see's something sellable in one shop for say £2 she buys it then gives it to the other shop, so both shops benefit, she also makes a donation to both charities at Christmas.

I buy a few toys and dry goods and take them to the local charity distribution point. They make up hampers for families who have nothing at Christmas.

I also buy charity Christmas cards and next month I'll take any unwanted Christmas presernts to the charity shop!

I try to buy all my Christmas gifts from charity shops and help that way.
I have 12 grandchildren so I am looking in charity shops all year for suitable gifts for birthdays as well. Lots of the stuff in charity shops is new still in the original packing you just have to keep looking.

I give mostly to animal charities and would give lots more to them if I could.

I agree with Coldicote it's sad that people still have to rely so heavily on charity even today, especially as we are taxed to the hilt in this country. With the rise of "Food Banks" we really are heading back to Victorian days.
