My Mum just asked me when am I taking the "trimmings" down. By that, she means Christmas decs.

I am thinking about doing it today. Is that too early? They are doing my head in. It looks *so* messy and cluttered. Grrr.

We've just taken ours down.

I like to have it all put away by Hogmanay as I like to start the New Year with a tidy house.

I usually wait until after New Year and have to leave the creche (Nativity scene) until after the 3 kings have been on 5th Jan.

It does not have to be done on Jan 5th but shouldn't be left later.

That's exactly how I feel, 2sp. In fact, I am going to make a decision, and will take them down first thing in the morning.

We love ours, they make the place look much better ;) and are so pretty with twinkling fairy lights everywhere. We leave ours up until the last possible moment (next Saturday or even Sunday) as we can't bear to take them down.

Ann, really?! They do look "pretty", but they also look too much like clutter. I have had to move loads of my 'things' from the lounge, to make way for bloody Christmas cards and garlands!

2sp, ahh, that's nice. I do like that.

12th Night, 6th of January, and Mr Spikey's birthday, that's how we never forget. plague and pestilence, and things will drop off you, if take them down before then!!

mine are coming down tomorrow and will be replaced with some fresh flowers after a good 'spring clean' I love feeling I am starting the new year with my home fresh clean and sweet smelling... so will used some ritual cleaning as well with sage and salt
