I know it sounds ungrateful but.......
Hu guys - not been on here for a while what with moving house etc.Anyway,to cut a long story short,I arranged the most wonderful present for my boyfriend for Xmas.I flew him to Manchester to see Man Utd play in the Champions League, spent 2 nights in a hotel there and had the most amazing time.He was totally gobsmacked and said he couldn't believe the effort I had gone to.It cost an absolute bomb but it was worth it to see the look on his face, This was Dec 6th. When it came to this week he said he was going shopping to buy my prezzie, and he said I deserved something really special and how much he loved me. I laughed and said it wasn't about money, but about putting thought into things.Anyway,he came home incredibly quickly, sneaked upstairs and then came down and said it hadn;t taken long as he had known already what he was going to buy. When it came to Xmas morning, well - he handed me several wrapped prezzies - I had 1.A chocolate orange 2.A Little Britain Calender 3. Lee Evans dvd 4.Gift box of smellies 5.Bottle of perfume. 6. Hideous belt. Now I know I sound a cow but I was stunned - after all the talk about something special he had apparently gone round the shops and grabbed the nearest few things he could see. I managed to cover my disappointment and he still hasn't twigged Im upset. He has gone away now till saturday. His mum has just popped over and when I showed her what he bought she thought I was winding her up.He earns a fortune but its not even about the money - if he had gone into a jewellerys and got me a single gift of say a pair or earrings or a bangle for I would have been chuffed as it meant he thought about it.But he didn't - he just randomly picked up 5 or 6 items. I don't know if im being unfair in thinking this way or not and just wondered what you thought??

Could have sworn I've seen stuff on here before about how good he is at that type of thing... Is he perhaps harbouring a suprise?
I dunno babe... I'm very much inclined to say that it doesn't really matter what you get for christmas as long as you already have what you need. But then I guess that's easy for me to say.
Perhaps get his mum to have a word in his shell like if you're really upset about it?
Maybe, cause he knows you really like those things he thought that they would mean a lot to you?
Like I said... I don't know really. You feel how you feel. Try not to let it put a dampner on everything. He could have just had a lot on his mind what with the move and all? xx

if something had to be arranged or made though and she gave him his pressie on 6th december, then he has had plenty of time.
I would be quite disappointed myself to be honest as i think it doesnt show he knows you very well, my DP had a limited budget and managed to get me some stuff that i really love and its because he knows me so well.
If he truly thinks thats enough after your amazing effort then i wouldnt know what to advise as its you that is with him, but i think i would be considering if he is the one for me if he got such random stuff as i do think it shows he hasnt put much effort in

Hiya PinkFizz,
Sometimes I wonder myself, does he know me? short answer? No, of course not. We are from Venus after all and they are from Mars lol.
I bought him also very special gifts and yep, all I would have loved was a pair of earrings :-) and dropped enough hints hehe.....
So, crimbo morning I open....... a cook book from Hester Blumenthal and a handbag which would suit a 20 something DKNY fan. I am a: not a handbag girl and b: never been interested in 'labels'.
So, having unwrapped it I most definately did show my :-( by saying this......
" You did keep the reciept didn't you?"
The answer was yes thank gawd, so now I'm off to get me a pair of boots and earrings!!!!!
He did also by me socks and perfume, always useful. bless him..... it's my birthday on the 1st, always good for second chance lol.......

Hmmm, thanks pinkfizz, thats the first time i have laughed today...
No, seriously though, it doesnt seem like he has put a lot of thought into it. They are just usual items which girls get. As you say, its not the money part, but it certainly is a bit of a downer not to get something 'reasonable' in return.
Anyway, on a different note, what you gonna do with that belt?

Nah, next year give the chocolate orange you got for xmas this year. Tell him its of sentimental value, so its worth a lot more than money. Tell him you will always remember it, as it was a very memorable xmas for you. Then as he bends over to put it in the bin, give him a slap with that belt (if you still have it). As your doing it, shout to him, "Little britain!!! I will give you a little britain on your little bottom". then afterwards put the bottle of perfume on his scars. The smellies you can put in the bin to get rid of the smell of that out of date chocolate orange...
Hi guys - thanks for the replies. Yes I know he has had a lot on his mind but then so have I. And no he definitely hasn't got anything else planned as he has now gone away to work until the new year.As I said,it wasn't the money - just the lack of thought. I would have been happier with a 30 pair of earrings he had thought about and chosen, rather than 50/60 spent on grabbing things in a hurry. Am not gona say anything to him as it would come out all wrong .
As for the belt......hmmmmmmmmm ; 0

Pink - perhaps I am a bit more confrontational - but I would wait until he came home - and explain to him calmly that it really had nothing to do with the money spent - but in the lack of consideration shown to me. I would then inform him that in the future I would prepare a list of gifts I wanted to receive for birthdays and Christmases and that he could choose one or all of the items on the list. Don't let him get away with treating you with such disrespect - it isn't as if he couldn't have afforded to do better!!!
Hello!!! Aww no hon :( Maybe his mum will have a word, not the point though I know.
I've had the parent trauma again this Christmas as mum won't tell dad what she wants and he doesn't have a clue so i usually end up getting it for him which ****** her off cos as she says, they've been married for 30 years so he should know her well enough to pick by now.
He was a bit more inventive this year, after we put him off anything kitchen related and she actually ended up with a gorgeous matching watch and bracelet which she said made Christmas...just no one tell her i picked it!
Men!!! ;)
