Seems like ages off yet, but the wife says we need to plan ahead! So, I need some inspiration from someone out there. What can we do on NYE thats a bit different and aint gonna cost the earth? Don't want to go clubbin', boozin' (not heavily anyway!) or pay a fortune for stopping over. We are, of all places , 5 miles south of Blackpool and believe me you dont want to be in town on NYE!

Bring on the suggestions!!!

Invite people over and have a fancy dress party
if you are having food get everyone to bring a different course or thir favourite party nibble. it saves on cost and you get to try something new. Or why not have a proper cocktail party with men in black tie and ladies in prohibition era dress. again if everyone brings a bottle of something different and you have plenty of ice and mixers the evenibg will go with a bang! this worked very well for us but i have to say the evening was so good that some of the details are still a bit vague. plus buy fireworks/sparklers now if you think you'll be sober enough to handle them. hope you have a great night
Why not nip across to Liverpool, city of culture for 2008, might be good
I would definitely have a party at home. Theres nothing nicer than celebrating it with people close to you rather than a pub full of drunken louts, rofl! plus the fact you dont have to worry about getting home after youve had one too many!

New Years Eve is my daughters birthday and so after her party in the afternoon I doubt I will even be awake to see in the new year!

Have fun whatever you decide to do x
Yep, fancy dress at home (so much fun!). Have a theme and ask everyone to 'bring a bottle' (preferably of bubbly!).

What I normally do if I have people round during the winter months is a big pot of chilli and lots of jacket potatoes and fresh baguettes (very cheap to do) - these go down a real treat and fill people up enough so you don't need to worry about doing lots and lots of nibbles.

Add some fab music and you'll have a fantastic new years eve.

If it's not raining at midnight, pop outside for some fresh air and to watch some fireworks (not sure about where you live but where we live it's like bonfire night all over again!), and it's lovely watching the fireworks with a glass of champagne in hand! Then it's back inside for lots of silly dancing into the wee hours!

Have fun!
