Why do the music channels always show a video of Slade's Christmas hit that was obviously made many years after the original hit was in the charts?

maybe its what they prefer to show..?
I assume they didn't make a video when they first had a hit with it- videos weren't needed then as groups wanted to appear 'live' on Top of The Pops and TOTP preferred to have groups on stage rather than on video
They do it just to annoy you Dave.

Maybe there wasn't a video for it the first time around?

And who cares? It's a fabulous song- get into the spirit of it and sing along ya miserable git ;-)
they didn't make videos of everything until MTV was invented, which was post-Slade.
And what about the newer version of so this is christmas?
As advised, the original single was made well before MTV made a video obligatory to sell a song - in our day ... (the old gentleman starts mumbling, followed by a gentle snoring sound and the door closing.)
so this is christmas?
Do you mean the John Lennon Happy Chrstmas (War is Over).
Has he made another video?
cor i hope he hasn't! He's been dead for over 20 years!
No they made another video - I think for the 10 anni. of his death and a new video which starts with baubles on a tree - I will try to find a link
