Why do we eat turkey at Christmas..

For Centuries it was traditional for UK families to eat goose or the head of a boar. However this changed in the 16th Century when the turkey bird was introduced to England.

Henry VIII was the first English king to enjoy turkey, although Edward VII made eating turkey fashionable at Christmas.

No idea, half the people I know that eat it at christmas don't even like it, no idea why on christmas day of all days they don't stuff themselves silly on something they actualy like!

"New World" turkeys were introduced to Europe in the 16th century. For many years, these "exotic" turkey birds only graced the tables of the wealthy. Working-class English Victorian families, like the Cratchits in Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol, belonged to Goose Clubs. In America, turkey (wild and plentiful) was a natural choice for the Christmas feast. And yet? Our survey of historic newspapers reveals the goose still commanded a traditional place on the Christmas table through the 19th century.

I said that to Mr Boo CD. I'm not a massive fan of it either, so when i suggested we get something else, like beef (im very adventerous) he was horrified- the silly sod.

Frankly, as long as I get to eat a vast amount of stuff that is bad for me as opposed to this diet I'm on, I'll be pretty happy.

I'm not a huge fan of turkey, I just get a turkey-crown ... you get what you pay for, you don't get tired of endless post-xmas turkey based meals ...and you get no waste.

Honestly, I would rather have a boar's head ...
