can anyone tell me the best (quality and price) to buy a gold necklace. I am travelling to Australia next year-via Dubai, KL and Singapore. Thanks in advance.

Check the exchange rates but out of that lot I would say Dubai. You can get some decent gold and stones there that are worth a lot more in the UK.

Thanks a lot for that, I was going to have a look around Dubai last year but the darn flight was late getting in and only had 30 minutes between flights. Will definately go for it next year. Thanks 237SJ. (Not a jersey bean I trust) my ex boss' initials were SJ

I don`t know what a Jersey bean is but no, I`m not one! If you are going out via Dubai, be very careful about taking anything above your allowance into Australia. They absolutely hate it. Of course, if you`re wearing the necklace, they might not know ;-)

jersey bean is someone born and bred in Jersey - donkey is the term for Guernsey.(another piece of useless information). Yes you are right about Australia. new Zealand is just as bad. I am not going crazy on the gold, just my christmas present to myself really. (Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it) :-)

Bear in mind that if you eventually intend to sell gold in the UK it must have a recognised hall-mark.
