How Much to Sell Guitar for
7 Answers
I've got some items I want to sell including a guitar and stand.
The only problem is I have no idea whatsoever how much to sell it for. It's probably about ten years old and it's just a bog standard acoustic guitar. In good nick, just needs tuning. From memory it's a Yamaha though I might be wrong.
Has anyone got a rough idea of what would be a reasonable price to try and sell the guitar and stand for? I'm not expecting it will be worth much, just haven't got the foggiest.

Fretboard width of at nut, straightness, amount of dip or bow
Tuner type; spanish, open or sealed.
General condition of finish such as scratches and blemishes
Study similar ones on ebay, there are thousands to look through.

If you are selling on Ebay do not specify pickup only as it narrows your market so much that you won't get more then half of it's potential value.
A no brand guitar like yours in good condition and with a stand (pickup only) sold for £5... yes £5 last week. The buyer will pay postage, (within the UK no more than £20)

Another good tip for ebay is to use a company called ColletPlus to deliver items , you can drop the item off at a drop off point near you, (mainly small shops) they will deliver an item such as a Guitar to the door for £5.99 or £7.99 if it is over 5Kg . A lot cheaper than the post office and it is tracked and insured. As you have been told very few people will come and pick up an item so you need to offer delivery to get a good price.
How odd when i log onto AB and a question I asked nearly a month ago pops up in latest posts, probably wouldnt have seen your answers otherwise.
I still havent got my backside into the garage to dig it out but thanks very much for all your tips! I didnt realise there was so much to take into account. Will definitely keeps all your suggestions in mind when i get round to selling it.
