No I haven't seen one before.
If I had one of these belonging to an ancestor, I would never ever sell it. Its a real part of history, wonder who it belonged to. I think most medals etc are engraved
The wording on this badge seems strange considering it doesn't mention FEPOW, "badge of merit" could relate to anything.
It is a memership badge for an association of service men who were taken prisoner by the Japanese in WW2 . I belive the association no longer exists as all the former members have now died. It is not a medal .

thanx for putting the link on. i dont think that this is a medal as such, looks like something to show you were a fepow and was maybe given to show you were in that federation/club/association, but very unusual, almost cute cos its small, might be worth a bid.

will do this right F.E.P.O.W means far east prisoner of war as far as i know and these initials are on it but yes you are right from the listing it doesnt say badge of merit, so maybe i am right in thinking its what you have if you are a former pow to say you were one of these, and sadly yes there arent many of them left
Question Author
have clicked on your link ratter15 didnt realise there are 2 listed, the one with london on could be one that that particular club has had specially made and the smaller one (one i am interested in) could be one that is made or issued that covers the whole of the u.k, just a thought, and to answer what someone said about not selling it if it belonged to an ancestor, maybe they have no-one to pass it onto, people sell on ebay for all sorts of reasons ad especially this time in a recession
