As advised by quite a few people, I'm off to Richer Sounds later in the hope of walking out with a TV.

Are Richer Sounds good at doing deals for customers? I'm in the market for a hifi and a DVD player too but my budget isn't huge. Anyone got experience of shopping with them? Am I likely to get a few quid knocked off if I buy all of that tonight? Any tips?

Oh, I am planning on paying for the TV by the way, not just walking out with one ;)
Looking at their reviews, they "seem" good, ..

but the proof is in your experience with the firm.

Good Shopping.
In my experience yes.

Let the sales guy see the cash and you can get a good deal.

I get them to knock down the price then at the last minute change my mind and tell them I'm not sure but if they throw in some extras like cables etc the deal is on.

If you dont ask you dont get, they have plenty of room to move on prices
My experience with them was top notch - I wanted to buy a TV specificaly for gaming chose one about to complete the sale, told the chap what I wanted it for and he told me not to buy it told me why didn't pressure me to buy any other TV or show me any, just not to buy it.

Went away thought about it ended up going back and buying. He just appeared totaly straight forward and honest.

Hence my recommendation
I've always found them very good- they will beat any price (even web prices) in store. But don't forget that their prices are already very competitive. They also give very good, well-informed advice. Happy shopping!

Thanks all! I really worry about going into shops for this sort of thing because I really have no idea what anything means and I think they're going to see me coming. I was going to go with my brother but we just can't get our act together to be in the same part of the country at the same time and I'm fed up of waiting so you've put my mind at rest a bit that they won't take the P and rip me off.
i would not hesitate to buy from richersounds,at least they do have product knowledge unlike currys, comets, etc,"they know what they are talking about" and their 5 year g/t is the best there is and cheapest

I went and I purchased. :)

Spent about 40 minutes talking me through all the TV's and giving me a bit of an idiots guide at my request. Didn't get any deals but I'm happy with the tv I bought. Would definitely go back to them.
The only time I went into one of their shops the assistant spoke well above my knowledge and was then most disdainful when it became apparent - I just walked out.
Evian: glad that you got what you wanted from them. You may get a letter from Julian Richer asking for your opinion - I did!

I'd be happy to tell him Ginge. Really pleased.

Thats a shame canary. The guy I spoke to was really helpful when I told him I knew absolutely nothing. Explained it all really clearly without being patronising.
I've often heard good reports about them and never a bad one - well until I saw canary's post.
