Microwaveable Hot Water Bottles?
29 Answers
Do any abers have any knowledge of these? I was considering buying one for an elderly relative as a present for safety reasons. Are they worth the expense and how long do they retain their heat as opposed to ordinary bottles?

I have one and it's great, but it can get very very hot if you "ping" it for a few seconds too long. I have a bad back and the heat lasts for at least an hour.. I use it driving to work, and it's still hot when I get there. I love it, but your elderly relative would have to be capable of getting the timing right.

Thanks for that sara3 very informative,my relative is very responsible and capable of getting timings right, always, maybe wrongly assuming there are various timings given on differing rates of microwave 700w 750w 850w etc.which I would hope there is as timing seems to be crucial to prevent over-heating,also do you put a cup of water in the microwave when heating it up,as I have read this is advisable to prevent drying out?
No woofgang not a lot,it was the lookalike hot water bottles I was hoping to get as she is very traditional and it would imitate one without the dangers of scalding and she has very arthritic hands and am concerned about the stoppers etc,a very iindependent lady and anything to avoid mishaps the better.
