Aldi And Lidl

Yes, they are both German but have no other connection...in fact, they are keen rivals (think Tesco and Asda)...they both have the same marketing model, though ie relatively small range of items that are available all the time but twice-weekly specials that come and go very quickly (if popular).

Lidl was founded by the Schwartz family .

As has been said, they are family but rival companies now. What they sell is very similar. Lidl will do you as well as Aldi.

Aldi got better marks than Lidl in a survey in Which magazine this month. Asda came top, Co-Op bottom.

They are NOT family and in no way connected. Aldi was split into two parts (Aldi North and Aldi South) when the founder brothers fell out...nothing to do with Lidl!

They were scoring "customer satisfaction"....and Aldi was top...not Asda!

The Aldi brothers split their company into two groups after a fall out about selling ciggies at the checkout .They split into Aldi Sud and Aldi Nord in Germany .There is no family connection to Lidl .

ooh, you're quite right, ginge, Aldi got 76% and came top. Lidl got 71%. I get these four-letter-name supermarkets confused so easily these days, especially when they start with A.

Aldi 76%, SWaitrose 75%, M&S 73%, Lidl 71%, Iceland 68%, Asda 66%, Sainsburys 64%, Morrisons 63% Tesco 57%, o-Op 50%. Ocado was also tested and got 78%, but it doesn't have shops.

Surveyed for pricing, customer service, filling your trolley (product range, ease of finding things on the shelves), fresh produce quality and store environment, all as voted by customers.
