Shopping Used To Be A Pleasure

I love shopping especially bargain hunting but lately shopping has been uncomfortable, loud music in stores and uncontrollable children, went shopping today in our local mall loud music in every store and in mall as well and parents letting their kids run riot, think I will wait until holiday time is over, one store today had music so loud had to leave, shopping gripe over!

If anyone has to speak to a shop manager about the noise of the music, try pointing to somebody with wired plastic plugs in their ears. This means that people who Really Really want music in shops can bring their own with them. Such people are exercising thier own choice. Those who don't want music when shopping should be allowed their own choice, too

In M+ S at Meadowhall, they were playing loud music in the children's department. When I asked why they were doing this the response I got was that 'children like it'. This was at 9 o'clock on a school day! Never mind that ladies of a certain age like shopping in peace! MEADOWHELL,

Yes got to agree the loud music is off putting as is the fact that some parents seem to think that stores are play parks for their children. The thing that winds me up the most though in town are the charity collectors, the ones that work for another company, not the charity they are collecting for and are just trying to get you to sign up to pay a monthly amount. It is now every day in our town and they are often quite pushy. Some times when you say no thank you they just turn around and say something like oh you don't want to help the sick and hungry children then. I don't mind putting some coins in the box but this kind of thing puts me off doing it unless I can see that they are not holding a board with these sign up forms on them.

Caribeing I hate it too as some of the Muzak is quite shrill or whistley and goes right through to my brain via hearing aid.

When I last worked in Civil Service typists wanted music all day long - can I tell you how many arguments there were turning it down. All I could "hear" was piercing music.

When I went off on leave you can be sure that radio was at its loudest. Murder to get it down again. God that brings some memories.

Douglas 9401 - you should get yourself a better class of butler. Mine wouldn't dream of dealing with the shopping. We leave such tasks to the housekeeper who rings up the shops and gets them to send their delivery boys. The accounts are settled monthly.
