I emailed Sainsburys CEO about this today and this is the reply;
Thank you for your email to Mike Coupe, who has asked me to respond to you on his behalf about the change to Nectar points. I am sorry you are disappointed with this and appreciate the chance to explain a little more about what it all means.
We know Nectar is important to our customers and are always looking at ways to improve the scheme. We will be bringing you lots of new ways to boost your points balance.
We will be running a number of different promotions over the coming weeks, including:
· Double points in our convenience stores from 15th - 21st October.
· Swipe to Win this weekend, giving you a coupon for anywhere between 50 and 5,000 Nectar points when you spend £20 in store, with chances to become a Nectar millionaire.
· Double Up on Christmas products from 19th - 25th November, on Taste the Difference, still, sparkling and fortified wines, electrical products, toys, clothing, home and seasonal items. This is where points are worth double their value when redeeming against the included categories (500 points = £5 to spend).
These are all running this year, to give you a taster of the kind of promotions you will see when the changes come into effect.
I hope this helps to restore your faith in our loyalty scheme and explains how you will be able to earn more points than before. We look forward to welcoming you in store again soon.
Yours sincerely
Charlene McCann
This to me is the sort of answer that a politician gives by trying to hi-lite the so called good points but failing to realise the bad points of the plan!!
