Having tried one in the past, I found that they never really stuck the pieces together. Without something to bind the bits, they are a waste of money IMO.

The 'device' is called a pair of hands. Squash small bit of old soap against new bar when both wet, leave on side to dry whence it sticks together adequately for next time of use. No other costly gadget required.

There are mesh or sisal soap saver bags on ebay to put pieces of soap in.

I would make a 'soap bag' out of a flannel and use the odd end in that. It can be as stylish as you want to make it then
