College Student Going To Uni

Any ideas please what i can get our goddaughter to go to Uni? Want to send her off with some goodies but not replicate parents stuff. Thinking of maybe unusual or things you would probably not think you needed til you got there.

In my uni days (when dinosaurs ruled the Earth) it was impossible to have enough mugs. (They got broken, borrowed, nicked or simply disappeared into thin air). Perhaps a set of mugs (possibly personalised) and a big jar of instant coffee might be a useful prezzie?

How about a subscription to something like The Week?
Would keep her up to date with national and international news, and unlike trying to find time to read a newspaper, would only come once a week.

Don't want to ask parents as they are very humble and will say she doesn't need anything. Would rather not give money. Want ger to have something she can use or be of comfort to her.

How about an anglepoise lamp (for doing her coursework/bedside light) and a Waterstones voucher?
Or a Student Railcard, maybe, if she's going far...
