Scan & Go

Why don't more people use this facility in supermarkets ?
Why load stuff in a trolley , only to then unload it back into a conveyor belt , to then load it again in your bags ?
Is it the same in the supermarket you frequent ?
Are you a scan & go shopper ?

I've never even thought of using it, can't see the point.

In Tesco you resgister your Clubcard with the system, then scan your card which then releases a handset.
In Asda you register your email address and phone number, then enter your phone number to release a handset.
At the moment (in our Asda) you can only pay with a card, in Tesco its cash or card.
Checkout is easier in Tesco - you scan a barcode above the till. In Asda you scan the screen then present the handset to a scanner on the machine.

Tuvok - it was just the logistics of the ASDA card I was asking about - we use Tesco and Sainsbury's, so I'm familiar with the system in general. On top of that I don't have a smart phone, so it was that part I was seeking clarification for. I can now think where the flaw might be in your "getting someone else to pay" trick.
Tuvok - I see what you're getting at now. At Sainsbury's there is some system when you use a smart phone that your bank is debited automatically as you leave the shop (I don't know the details) - I thought that was the sort of system you were talking about. What you are suggesting is that you use someone's phone number to acquire a handset, use it as you shop and then sneak out of the shop without going through the cashpoints; ASDA will chase the owner of the phone for payment. It does sound flawed.

We have several shopping bags which is placed in the trolley
Tins / heavy stuff is placed in one as we pick up each item , where ever it is in the store
Fridge / freezer stuff goes in a separate bag
Fruit and veg in another bag .... etc etc
So you can still be methodical
Have I converted you now :-)
