Is that unless supermarkets have really put their thinking hats on this Christmas there will be tons more food heading for the ships than normal. You have less people have dinner /parties together. Office parties won't be happening, pubs not operating as normal Christmas or new year. The turkey producers must wonder what the hell to do with their stock. Whats you're thoughts?

I purt my foot down after one appalling year when most of the rest of it was thrown in the bin. Far better for manufactures to deal with the rest of the carcass which can go to good use, they never throw anything away and usually even spray the bones to get what they can off. Bits not good enough for human consumption go in the dog food of course.
There doesn't have to be a lot of waste with a turkey. Never fancied a crown as I find them dry. When we were young, my Mum would cook the turkey, then we would have it cold the next day. Then maybe some would be used in a salad (my aunty always used to make turkey rissoles at that point) and eventually the remains would be made into soup. Nowadays, people can't be bothered to do that. I have a friend who cooks a chicken and after the meal, bins the leftovers even though there is plenty of meat still left on it.
237 - do you not think people are more adventurous with food now? There are so many cooking programmes on it gives people ideas and what to do with left overs.
I've bought a turkey crown, only because I was asked to, and with the other meats I have I'll do a cold meat selection the next day with cheeses and chutneys, crusty bread, potato salad etc...
