In my experience the missing items are completely random from week to week and due to missing deliveries because of the shortage of HGV drivers. I don't believe it's panic-buying.
The only thing missing from our very large Morrisons order was one of there own Fish pies. As for bin liners, we never buy them. We recycle all the plastic bags of a suitable size that come into the house. We will survive!!!
I think they are prioritising deliveries of perishable food, anything that won't spoil drops down the delivery queue. Locally gaps in things like rice and pasta and some cleaning supplies. Homebargains looked like they were closing down but their business model would make them vulnerable in the current situation. Very little short date stuff available it's selling through the big 4.
I called into Sainsburys last week (first time in 18 months) to buy some herbs/spices/kimchi etc that I can't get in Aldi and was shocked. Huge parts of Isles were empty, or the products stretched out to make the isles look fuller. The gluten free section was nearly all sold out too. Next day I went you our usual Aldi for the weekly shop and the shelves were heaving -no shortages there.
ive not had any problems so far but i do know there is issues with transportation of fruit and veg and you can tell because the bananas are more yellow than green and i like to buy and eat them green until they sort this mess i shant buy any bananas
its not about pay pp its the actual drivers i know this first hand lot of companies having to get agency work and the drivers care much less through agency and due to this there are delays and paperwork issues trust me when i say its not the pay because i know that they are being offered very good wage through certain companies at the moment the issue is just lack of drivers its funny though im always seeing lorry on the road
Main reason of shortage of drivers is Brexit without a doubt.
Thousands of e/u drivers returned to their Countries because of Brexit red tape. No shortages reported in the E/U.
