Why are shops so against giving a receipt, I have to ask every time for a receipt, and every time they pull a face ~ Idiots I hope you get this sorted out. Good luck

From their website,

"Christmas Extended Returns

Purchases made between 1st November and 24th December can be returned up until 13th January or 30 days from receipt, whichever is greater."

The receipt is showing the time allowed to get a refund on the actual voucher, not the deadline for using it

Kustard, very often the replies aren't to the OP but to subsequent posts, often posted by somebody else.

We've meandered into gift cards/vouchers now - nothing whatsoever to do with the OP but it's the natural way conversation flows
Well spotted, Corby! Although I suspect the store cards/vouchers can't be returned for a refund

i did get a receipt but i did put it in the bin thinking it would be ok and the product is faulty but a part of the packaging is torn and the packaging can be seen as part of the product
If only the packaging is damaged then you are still entitled to a refund or repair if the item itself is inherently faulty, or not as described or of suitable quality. You don't even need the packaging in those circumstances.
When did you buy it?

More info, please, roadman.
What is it?
Did you buy it in a shop?
How did you pay for it?
What is the fault?
Have you damaged the item itself or just the packaging?
Roadman, I think your suggestion to buy another one and then return the faulty one in the undamaged packing is the best idea. The only problem I could be the replacement you buy is also faulty.
I don't think packaging is classed as part of the product though. If the product is faulty due to something unrelated to the packaging, electrical for example, then a refund should be given as the goods purchased are not fit for purpose.
You have to be careful about swapping boxes, though. Sometimes the serial number is printed on the box or hidden in a QR code. If it doesn't match the serial number on the items there could be problems
My dad did something similar with a strimmer from B&Q. After a couple of uses it packed up, and he could not get it going again. Unfortunately, he had lost the receipt and put the packaging on a bonfire, so we just bought another, swopped out the defective one and took it back saying it was faulty. Dad got a full refund no questions asked, and nothing was scanned. These things are just tossed in the bin by the retailers and classed as shrinkage.
