Why are shops so against giving a receipt, I have to ask every time for a receipt, and every time they pull a face ~ Idiots I hope you get this sorted out. Good luck

I'm always offered a receipt, too. Very often the receipt is automatically put into the bag with the item(s)
I'm almost always asked if I want one...and I'll take it about 50% of the time...depending on what I'm buying. If they don't ask, I don't consider them idiots. That's a bit harsh.
// Why are shops so against giving a receipt, //

One explanation could be to make the paper till roll last longer between replacement.

Many decades ago I had to undertake such a task. They can be quite 'fiddly' to change.
//I certainly won't be buying Roman vouchers anymore. //

Neither would I! That's disgraceful! I trust you've contacted them about this?
On the Roman website, they have a £50 gift card and it's valid for twelve month.
KUSTARD...I'd think all stores put a time limit on vouchers. But 2 months certainly is not a lot. Are you sure it's not for January 2024?
// won't be buying Roman vouchers //

Why would anyone purchase a voucher that can only be redeemed in a specific store.

Give them the money equivalent of the voucher. Then the recipient is not constrained to where it is spent!
The gift card also shows the value.
Kustard, according to their website gift vouchers are valid for 12 months - contact them
"Why would anyone purchase a voucher that can only be redeemed in a specific store."

If it weren't popular, hundreds of businesses wouldn't be using them.

It also shows that at least some thought and effort went into the gift.
Zebu, maybe that particular store is a favourite of the recipient.
I've had gift cards that don't show the value, Corby. They have to be scanned in the store.
The Roman website allows you to check the balance of your gift card online. You don't have to spend it all at once
I've now got Roman adverts popping up on my screen...:(
NAOMI, I meant this particular card since it was said the voucher doesn't show the value.

It seems odd having a voucher showing no value and a card that does.

Consumer madness if you ask me!

Oops... In reply, fair enough!
Anyone with gift vouchers should spend them as soon as possible - there is no guarantee that the store will still be in business in a few months, whoever they are
I have reread the receipt just to make sure and it says "vouchers issued between 1st Nov-24th Dec are valid until the date shown below or 30 days from purchase whichever is greater January 13th" so, thank you. I will be in touch with them for an explanation. As for the people saying why would I not give an open gift card or money, well it's my choice. I wouldn't dream of telling you what to do!!!! I dread posting on here sometimes because of the unnecessary unwanted advice.
Totally agree Barry. Especially with Roman in the present economic climate. I never shop there anyway these days after being persuaded by a sales assistant to buy something I was unsure of on the basis “you can always bring it back if you change your mind” only to find when I did that they don’t do cash or credit card refunds only credit notes (and yes to be used within a certain period) in any circumstances. I ended up buying something else I did not really need so that I didn’t lose my money!
