Something that he doesn't know that he needs and fits his hobbies/interests. OH loves cars and speed and he got a track-day for his 70th.  Now 91 I bought him a super-duper bird-feeding station (old one kept falling over and having to be repaired).  

A balloon-ride is unusual and I loved it, despite having no head for heights. The world is your lobster!

OG don't think he will want his mother wrapped in a ribbon :) he drives a ferrari, and has done track days, the 40 year old whiskey was a good idea, but he doesn't drink it, but some good ideas there, thanks guys.
