They are all nice but I prefer the black for an interview

You haven't got an interview, but when you get one I think all the previous advice about something smart and plain still applies. As long as you look smart the interviewer will be interested in you CV, your experience, your skills, your flexibility and your preparation for the interview. They won't be interested in what size spots you have or which animal print unless they look garish

Good afternoon,

They are all nice but not one screams 'interview'.

You have previously been advised to invest in a white shirt and black trousers, safe and classy.

Personally  I'm not keen on 'shirts'.  Shirt collars with jackets often go awry and look untidy.  I much prefer a white close fitting t-shirt with a scoop neckline.  That stays where you put it and always looks good.

Somethng like this.

Or one of these

Abbey, did you look at the picture I posted?

Just viewed thanks nay

You don't like that?

The lady in Naomis post is exactly how you need to dress, and I say that as an interviewer of many people.

Even the daughter who wears mini hot pants and leaves little to the imagination elsewhere wears something like that for an interview.

Remember, its not a fashion show so plain and simple with no accessories and certainly nothing "designer" even if it is from Primarny.

//I say that as an interviewer of many people.//

Me too, ymb - and I've hired and fired more than I care to remember.  :o)

Yes, I have had many jobs where I go in for a few months to rebuild teams.  Go in fire the trash, hire decent and then move on.

I have to say I have had my share of oddities.  One fella actually ansered his mobile during the interview (he was shoved out while still on it) another started an argument with me on something I know 100% I was right and another claimed he had done a job brilliantly when I knew he ahadnt becasue I had to clear the mess up a few years back!

And then you get the shorts, hawain shirts and shirts like belts.  I think it is true you make you mind up on sight then its just down to tech ability. (I'm IT)

😂

naomi- when abbey said "Just viewed thanks nay"

I don';t think she was saying nay as in no, she was using nay as an abbreviation for Naomi

Thanks NMA.  I realised that just after I pressed the button.  Bit slow on the uptake this afternoon.  I blame multi-tasking... or trying to.  😂

Thinking this with black trousers

No, abbey, not that.  Something classy for interviews, like the long sleeved top in Naomi's link.

No, look at the outfit in Naomi's link.

That top that you have linked will not go with black trousers.

Invest in 1 outfit that can be worn time and time again

Don't go for a baggy look, abbey.  If you're slim get a T-shirt that 'fits' your body shape like the one in my picture.  Much neater.
