Yet again. People spending like crazy. No shortage of money it appears regardless of all the moaning. Booze is flying off the shelves.

Only a couple of weeks to go.  Merry Christmas.

Stopping the Christmas Booze Allowance clearly hasn't made much difference. Is it busier or less busy than last Christmas?

Waitrose have had to close their cafe, clear out all the tables and chairs to use for extra storage. They've even erected a full size fridge in their to cope with the extra stock. Wont be reopening the cafe until new year is over.

That's nothing new, they've been doing it since 2020

What is this town that is rammed with shoppers? I've been looking at city centre live feeds and haven't noticed frenzied activity

It's almost as if we are a couple of weeks from xmas.

Loads of parcels being delivered to my door.  Not for us, the neighbours seem to think we are an Amazon/DPD/Evri/RM hub

Couple of weeks, couple of months, six months, if you've no money you dont spend. End of.

People will always be spending, doesn't mean they've got the money - just a load of debt

My local Waitrose shut it's cafe at Covid-time and never did reopen it.

My Waitrose closed during COVID and is now a Tesco ☚ī¸

18.06 As I dont shop in WR and don't visit very often especially on the run up to Xmas zi wouldnt know they normally close yhem. Regarding the ones that have closed for good dont in anyway suprise me when they want to charge £3  for a slice of cake, thats a joke.

Nicebloke, practically every time you talk about business you illustrate your ignorance of it.

I hate to say it, but I'd say £3 for a slice of cake is kind of average. It's certainly what I'd pay in a local cafe.

Edit...just checked...4.95 made on premises, 3.25 for crumpets. Mind you, this was in The Barbican. Where I usually go,they start at 3.20/3.80.

And everytime I do talk about it you have very little to offer on the subject. Your only offerings are insults, do I take any notice of the latter? very little. There is however one area you are brilliant at, killing a thread stone dead. So lets give this one a miss shall we, happy now? :0))

19.16 I shouldn't bother pasta.

Moderators are tasked with keeping up standards, some say Appearances, but you must remember the caveat that they post as 'ordinary members' too, nicebloke.

That's when the mask slips.

Don't then...but remind yourself if you're in a small local cafe that that cake is paying wages for the baker, server, the dish washer and cleaner, the space and its upkeep.

Question Author

Pasta, one last post, we are talking about businesses that have multi million pound turnovers. Not the corner cafe.

Douglas, ah bless.... but the mods you don't know post as ordinary posters too.  You are unwittingly interacting with them every day.    đŸ˜‚
