Dyson??? Aaarrrgh!!! Their latest TV ad says that other cleaners filters block, while theirs doesn't. This is totally untrue. When I used my brand new Dyson the filter blocked after 5 minutes use. I'm going to get onto Advertising Standards about Dyson's new advert. Before you make your mind up, see http://www.reviewcentre.com/Dyson__4.htm
I would have to add that Dysons are very over-rated. I work part-time at a department store and they are often brought back (they also have a tendency to be over powerful leading to problems with damage to carpets e.g. excessive wear/piling). I have a SEBO which is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used and everyone I know that has one would never have anything else. Any of their models would be OK it depends on the size of your house and types of flooring.
Forget a Dyson. I've just been trying to get hold of a so-called purple "permanent filter" for a DC08 animal cylinder that's under warranty for a neighbour.
They cost over 12.00 apiece. I've written to Dyson twice to find out why these filters need replacing if their "permanent" as they claim. So far I've not had a reply.
The filter is only blocked with dust, but its manufactured in such a way that it can't be opened to be cleaned.
The Dyson was bought on HP via a well known TV rental/consumer electronics company that hawks their business from door to door on council estates. They have refused point blank to do anything about it.
You won't catch me buying a Dyson and I certainly will not recommend them to others. I use a Miele.
