Portable DVD LCD Screen failure

I have a Matsui portable DVD player which is about two years old . Just recently the LCD screen fails to light up altho the DVD is working ( you can get audio ).

I'm fairly sure that when this happens it means that the screen is finished . Can anyone confirm this for me?
