Has anyone bought a Tesco value kettle or toaster and has it worked perfectly fine, or have you had to take it back for a replacement within its guarantee year?

My brother rented a furnished flat and all the kitchen appliances were this type of stuff. Not what I would choose but 1 year later there have been no problems. You get what you pay for.

that's funny. I'm moving into rented furnished flat in a week's time and it doesn't come with kettle/toaster!
My sons are in their second years at university. I bought each of them a Tesco value toaster and kettle and all four items are still going strong. Not bad given the abuse students in halls and flats tend to give their stuff.
My Tesco 'Value' kettle is currently under a year old, but I've no reason to think that it won't least for several years. (My Tesco 'Value' steam iron is the best iron I've ever had. It's lightweight, easy to fill and with a good distribution of steam).

I have an all singing all dancing blue and white fancy kettle just over a year old and it broke today!!!! so i went to asdas and bought a cheap one instead. if it lasts a year its only cost me a few quid.

True. I reckon that most electrical appliances nowadays, whether expensive or not, are not designed to last beyond a couple of years.
I've had a Tesco value kettle for at least two years. Still working fine and I don't even fill it up to the minimum water mark most of the time.
