is it me or is it crap the always missing items which usually includes the important things then u have 2 wait 510 days 4 the refund.
i now have to go 10 days waiting for 30.00 worth of frozen food money to be refunded cause there wasnt any on the van 4 me n suprise suprise theres no manager available

yes i agree!! I have switched to sainsburys online shopping, the drivers are nicer people and i don't get any hassle with the food.
I haven't shopped on-line for food for a while, but it particularly annoyed me when they would bring half a meal - e.g. rice and nan bread and no curry or they bring the kids a spinnach and ricotta pizza instead of pepperoni. They need to have people with a bit of common sense before I try again.
I get the same problem all the time with Tescos, I ordered some salmon fillets in watercress sauce, they sent me as a substitute 2 cod fish cakes! they always seem to sell me things that have a use by date for the day they deliver especially bread, I've complained until I'm blue in the face but nothing has been done about it. As soon as my club card points come through I shall start shopping with Waitrose, at least you get quality products even if you have to pay a little bit more.
You get the opportunity to ask for no substitutes for any items. I always look at the sell by dates for such things as bread, milk and other perishables and give them back to the driver if I am not happy. As a result I am usually quite happy. I think it is Sainsburys who put their short shelf-life items in a separate bag and inform you of them, giving you the option to send them back.
The trouble is if you give them back to the driver you have to reorder and also you might want some of the things to use that day and it means paying for another delivery, I know about the substitute thing but what I'm getting at is when they substitute something it's nothing like the thing you ordered.
If some of the items are to be used the same day then surely the short shelf-life is not important? There are always drawbacks whichever way you shop and it depends on your circumstances but you tend to take the one that suits you most. The only way to make sure you get just what you want is to do the shopping in person and go from shop to shop, supermarket to supermarket comparing prices and quality - but that is the long winded way and not an option for most people. I am lucky, I have a little 'One Stop' shop quite nearby so I can always get the odd item there. I have groceries delivered because I cannot carry heavy weights, so I pay the supermarket to do it for me.
Daisy - if you specify no substitutes then you are no bettter a position - you still have half a meal or no meal at all. I think gelda was meaning that they may bring you milk that need to be used by that day, you need milk to use that day, but you wont use all if it. You end up keeping it because you need it and then throwing half of it away and having to go and get it the next day as well.

That goes for all the deliverys I have used - not supermarket specific.

Anyway, I just go to the shops now and get it myself, then I only have myself to blame!
Thankyou Annie, that was the point I was trying to get over, unfortunately I'm not well enough to do my own shopping it's one of the things I miss.
Sorry to hear that gelda - all the more reason that you shold be able to rely on the service that most of the time you are paying for. If you lived near me, I would get it for you :o) xx

Definitely. I've stopped using them as there was always a really high proportion of items where the use by date was the same as the delivery date. I've used Ocado and Tesco and this has happened on occasion but with Asda it was four or five items each time!
Rang customer services each time and they were always helpful and refunded the items. But the store I use (Halifax) seem to go out of thier way to offload the oldest stuff to the online shoppers.
