How do I get my refund

I recently returned an item to a store and they said that all refunds had to come via a cheque from their head office. They took back the goods and wrote on the receipt that a refund was to be issued.

6 weeks later, no sign of a refund - head office ignoring all letters and the store still saying that the refund has to come from the head office.

What are my rights in this case?

I've had this before.  Its usually when you pay by cheque but the cheque hasnt cleared yet before you return it. 

6wks is too long to wait.  Contact the local store again and ask for their customer services/head office number and telephone your query through.

Get a fax number and put your complaint in writing to them.

This is terrible.  I think the post before is correct.  Get a customer service number/ head office and write a letter of compliant.  This is basically theft!
