I believe I read of a card which can be loaded with money to give as a gift card rather than a cheque. I had planned to get such a card for my grand-daughter who is away at University and might appreciate a bit of funding during term time. I have been trying to find out about this but so far without any luck -can anyone advise please. I think it may have been connected with a supermarket
thanks
thanks for that but seems to be all American dollars change to UK and only ones offered are attached to shopping centres up north not local ie essex or Bristol
Not for a gift card, dot. I've bought some for £20 and they cost me £20.
I'm pretty sure wwendyl means gift cards not credit cards.
A prepaid TESCO one would be useful for a student.
Yes but gift cards are tied to specific retailers factor, wendy suggests in her question that she wants more flexibility than that, instead of giving her a cheque. Mastercard do a top up debit card which can be used everywhere that has the mastercard logo on their tillpoint.
I found some of these replies quite interesting. My granddaughter was pleased with her gift card. Whilst living in Bristol Tesco is her nearest supermarket and my thoughts were hat she might be glad of a boost to her food budget but obviously there are plenty of other things she could purchase at Tesco. I had one from the Post Office a few years ago and very limited on where to spend it in this area - I finished up with something useful from Homebase I couldn't find anywhere for more personal items on list - maybe it has improved since then! a Mastercard top up card was not really suitable in this case - I'm not really in a position to do it on a regular basis.
Thanks again and perhaps your comments have been useful to others.
