Hello

Are there any knitters out there who could help? I am looking for a pattern for an adult size beanie type hat that isn’t knitted in the round, i.e. not knitted on circular needles and I would like the pattern as plain as possible. I’ve been looking on the internet for the last 2 1/2 hours with no success. It is for a friend’s daughter who I am teaching to knit, she wants to knit a hat for her dad for his birthday at the end of October!! Hence the need for a basic pattern.

Thank you.

I think Gness is our knitter. She should be along soon.

thanks, will hang around a while.
The most complicated bit is the shaping but it's a simple psso or K2tog to shape, so I hope it's easy enough. I have loads of patterns saved on the computer so if that won't do, let me know and I'll look again!
Gness is away at the moment. Have you tried googling charity beanie hats? A colleague of mine used to knit hats for a charity. They were very simple. I'm not in touch with her anymore so I can't help further, I'm afraid.
Poo, I've just realised that's on 4 needles - but it would be easy enough to convert to 2 needles, just cast on all the stitches then work to and fro rather than round and round. Instead of Round 1, read Row 1, and every odd-numbered row will be purl instead of knit.
There are lots of others of us on here who knit, tilly!
Here's one of those charity ones you mention, tilly - it's even easier than the other one, and is on two needles:-)

Sorry, boxy. I was trying to be helpful.
Not a problem, tilly - I'm a knit-maniac at the moment, knitting Christmas decorations for a craft fair!
Boxy, do you have a pattern for a knitted poppy?

thank you for you quick responce.
There's a free download for both knitted and crocheted poppies on the Woman's Weekly website. You do have to set up an account to be able to download them but as it's free I can't see any problem.
I didn't but I do now!

This was on the internet as part of an appeal for knitted poppies a while back.
