Cleaning rag dolls

I'm not sure if this the best category for this, nut here goes... I have 2 handmade dolls (Raggedy Ann and Andy.) Both their cloth faces are dirty and there are some small tears on them too. I am not good with sewing, etc, so where might I look to find someone who could repair and/clean them? (I need a general type of person not something specific as I am in America. )

After being repaired, could they be dry cleaned at the cleaners? My Great Aunt made them and I have recently discovered them while packing to move.
Thanks

Hi EngTeach ~ hope you are ok :o)

Hmmm..there are doll collecting forums on the web, with members who offer tips for restoring. It might be worth having a bit of a google? there may also be some links to ebay..quite often there are sellers who offer restoration via a 'doll hospital' or do it for you.

I would imagine that dry cleaning would be best, although the company may offer a discalimer if anything was to happen to the dolls.

What a lovely find, though!
I would do a google search for doll hospitals. Its not the sort of thing I would attempt and I am an experienced seamstress. Good luck in your search.
