Think back to when you were a kid and you admired someone for being cool, then try to analyse why you thought highly of them and the reasons that their hobby or achievements seemed so great.
Then, although you don't have to follow exactly the same hobby (as you have grown up now, or it might not be feasible in practical terms) but you will still be able to try to fit that sense of pride into your own life, whether it be attaining peer approval, medals...whatever you think is 'cool'.
Personally I have just started learning the guitar at a relatively advanced age (compared with when I learned classical instruments such as the violin when I was a kid) and I am finding it really fun, so I hope when you choose your new hobby then it turns out well for you too. And learning a new language is always good as you can join cultural groups and meet a whole new lot of people who all have the same interest in mind
