It is true, isn't it, that they only employ attractive women and gay men?

not judging by my last flight to geneva they don't! some right horrors.
Well I married one and seemed quite normal.
ive seen some right boilers on sas. kind of perverse considering the swedish stereotype.

not in my experience

Not on any of the airlines I've travelled with recently....
My last lufthanse flight there were some real mingers as well!

Depends on the airline... British Airways expect their cabin crew to have their weight in average proportion to their height. Other airlines are less strict.

Al Italia seem to go more on personality than looks/height/weight - there was a really lovely jolly, friendly and professional stewardess on my flight home from Rome, but she certainly was no oil painting - not even a Rubens.

I think that there is a lot of truth in what you say Andy008. I've travelled British Airways, Northwest Airlines and Air France recently and camp men were serving on every flight. Lovely girls though.
I think they start off attractive and end up gay, or is that not politically correct?

Back in the 1960s and early 1970s, when they were still called "stewardesses" and were dressed in hot pants and mini-skirts, the attractiveness of the women was definitely a factor.

Today's flight attendants, however, are put through some rigorous training, which not only includes first aid, but also tests how they react under terrorist or hijacking circumstances.  It's a matter of the strongest who survive.*

*True story:  an acquaintance of mine was training to be a flight attendant for Delta Airlines...one day she was summoned down to the front desk (the trainees were ensconced at a hotel) and given a message that her mother had passed away.  She asked to speak to the supervisor to get permission to leave, etc etc, and was ultimately told that her mother was OK, that it was just a training exercise to see how she handled pressure.

I sense the dark spectre of stereotyping swoop like a raven's wing over the Answerbank.

Romeo you are stereotyping ravens, many of whom are kindly birds who love their mothers and would never dream of saying 'nevermore'.
jno - some ravens might not actually SAY 'nevermore', but all the same you can tell they're thinking it!   >:-D
Romeo I can assure you most of the ravens I know are mild-mannered liberals who say things like 'hardly ever' and 'not right now dear' and 'never say never'.
I went out with a Virgin Hostie once and looking back she was a minger. Big fat thing with skin like oily porridge. However her dad was the training captain for the airline so perhaps nepatism isn't dead.

yes you're absolutely right andie

and the address to apply, is........

no thats not true at all, ive seen some right mingers
check out the air alps website my friend where you will find photos of all they,re cabin crew few nice ones on there

I love seeing the gay ones! When I went to the Caribbean last in April, I was miserable because I wasn't getting any sleep, but I was highly entertained by the gay one, not in that way of course!!

But no, I don't think it's true.

a good friend of mine is a trolley dolly and he certainly isn't gay!!!!! He's wife will agree!!!!!
