Is it acceptable to wear a trouser suit to a posh wedding, and also does one have to wear a hat?

Sorry if this is under the wrong heading.

Many Thanks

HI ya, I think a trouser suit is perfectably acceptable, also, a hat is entirely your own choice.
If you are worried, ask the bride or bride's mother.
You can wear a trouser suit or you can go dressed as a woman.  It's your choice.
The trend is usually for dresses for a formal wedding, but check with the organisers - it's awful to be the only one not dressed like the rest!

I actually think that a dressy trouser suit would be fine these days.  At the last formal wedding I went to (very posh) the brides mother looked lovely in a trouser suit and had no had.  Wear what makes you comfortable.  As long as you look as if you have dressed for the occasion I am sure it will be OK, and actually think it is nice to look a little different from the rest of the clones!

Oops - had no hat!

what do you mean Grunty. If you wear a pale pink, lilac or perhaps pale blue, you're hardly going to look like a man unless you bat for the other side. (no insult intended)
Yeah it's probably ok to wear a trouser suit but don't wear white, it's rude and "not done" for a woman to wear white at a wedding, only the bride should, apparently
When we got married, my husband's mum wore a lovely trouser suit with a hat, and my mum wore a lovely suit with a skirt, but no hat.  I guess that these days, it's not really a problem if you want to or don't want to wear a particular item, so go for it and have a good time.

Go as you want

Enjoy yourself

make sure that the bride's special day is special for her.

Dont be sick behind the sofa, dont proposition the bride's father, Dont say god who is that ugly woman to a stranger - and he  says Oh its my mother, everyone says that.....

or perhaps all those donts are do's

I've worn dressy trouser suits to weddings before & people have said I looked very smart. I felt comfortable all day & when dancing the night away at the reception.

But I hate hats!
