Wearing your pyjamas to the supermarket

How did the trend of people wearing their pyjamas in public start?

I've noticed a few people doing it round here over the years - I just assumed they were all barmy, I didn't realise it was a new trend!

Never mind the supermarket - I've honestly spotted them in pubs wearing jammies with little fluffy bunny rabbit patterns, topped off (as it were) with high heels! Pyjama bottoms can make great casual trousers, but I don't see the need to wear the baggy shirt top as well if you're going out.

I have to echo littlemissx here. Is that really a new British trend? Must admit I find it extremely funny! Going to get some rolls sundays morning in your jammies is ok, but the pub or the supermarket? That's just hilarious! I hasten to add I wouldn't even go to a bakery in my pyjamas and can't even go out without wearing at least mascara!

Tea It's rather clever actually, the pyjamas wearing public can just get out of bed, put on the high heels, pop down to the pub get a few beers and a meal and then home to bed again! Sorry for going on, but this is great!

didn't realise it was a trend!!! we went on a couple of PJ pub crawl nights at uni, proper laugh!! and again at uni used to stick a coat on over my PJs and go to the shops .... think its just a lazy thing myself!! well it was in my case

I hear that you can actually buy 'day' pyjamas now. They're made from heavier material for outdoor wear.

didnt know it was a trend. When i was at uni i lived near a 24hr asda, so would often roll up there in p.js even early evening. No one seemed to care.
