Could someone help settle an argument about this pub. I think there sre individual 'booths' to sit in on each side of the pub where you walk in, and the restuarant is at the back of the pub. The bar runs down the left hand side from the middle of the pub to the far end beside the restaurant. Am i right?

Having heated row with husband! Also, there is a statue of a dog in there...what dog is it?

I think it may be a greyhound, but not too sure.

Is that the pub by the station, on the left as you come out?,

Question Author
yes thats the one Chessman....quite a big place.
I haven't been in there for some years, but it used to be called the 'Spotted Dog', I do remember the alcoves, but in reference to the name, not sure, but it could be a Dalmation, to be sure though, I have a friend who works out of Barking Stn, i'll ask him to nip in there tomorrow, and i'll get back to you.

Bless your heart...thank you. There is another pub called the Spotted Dog which is near the station...lovely pub with sawdust on the floor...but it's not that one. It's the Wetherspoons pub right next to the station. Big and very unwelcoming!!! Not a patch on the Spotted dog.

Cheers Chessman

Have been in there a few times. Yes the bar runs down the left hand side of the pub, but Wetherspoons pubs don't generally have "restaurant areas" as every table has a number and you can effectively eat where you like - providing you have a table number.

And yes, booths are another feature of Wetherspoons' interior decor.

As regards the statue, I can't recall, but maybe Cheeseman, might have the answer by now. If not, I can call my mate who lives in Barking or you can call the pub and ask them! barkingdog

Not much help i'm afraid, my friend went in, and he says its like a rather long sausage dog, but I notice that Octavius, sorry, Octravious has posted also.
