Why does the President of Ukraine spend his time going round the
world instead of being with his people and his army NEGOTIATING a settlement.
His people are fighting, dying and starving he prances around ~ a nice
bed for the night and nice banquet and 15 minute talks, a shake of hands and
off to the next round, President (not) comedian ? IDIOT yes yes yes
Go home and look after the people who elected him.

Since any negotiation is bound to consist of him telling the Russians to b off, and the Russians refusing. That is a waste of time & effort, resource that is better used convincing other nations to buck up and take a moral stance rather than just looking out for self benefit, and retaining good relationships with those nations already on the moral high ground.

In any case, what benefit the leader being at a 'negotiation' table when a team of representatives could do the job perfectly well ?

It takes two to negotiate and Putin has absolutely no intention of doing so. Poorclare, are you suggesting President Zelensky should capitulate to a tyrant, surely you accept that the other example of doing so with the Nazis in WW2 would have been cataclysmically disastrous

Zelenky has been many times at the front with the soldiers doing the fighting.
How many times has Putin done that? Putin either uses doubles or enacts a scene in a field somewhere pretending, for home consumption, that he is really near danger. Putin is a craven coward

poorclare obviously doesn't know her history. Have you never heard of Yalta, Casablanca and quite a few others. Conferences are what Presidents and Prime Ministers do when their country is illegally placed in grave danger. He wants to stop the war for his people and the rest of the civilised free world and when dealing with a crazy tyrant he has to negotiate with people who are his allies and not an evil untermenchen. The President of Ukraine should be greatly admired for tireless energy and efforts to stop this war the only way he can.

I have to admire Zelenskyy. And I am sure Ukrainians are doubly proud of him. Most leaders would have fled, gone into hiding but not him.

I am not sure the multiple rape of women and young girls, bombing maternity hospitals, shooting a young boy for the contents on his cell phone, torture of civilians, slicing off ears of POWs ,,decapitations, castrating POWs etc, helps the cause of the Russians do you? They haven't learnt from Nanking or maybe they have. To call them animals is a disservice to animals. To call them Sub human fits the bill nicely and untermenshen just happens to be a modern German word which described Stalin. Nothing has changed IMO

because ukraine's war effort is heavily reliant on support from other countries... diplomacy is therefore a matter of life and death for them...

i do think that victory for ukraine will eventually take the form of some sort of settlement as ukraine cannot win on its own and support from the west will not last forever. it is unjust but i think it the most likely outcome.
