Whilst travelling between Oxford and North London each week, just before we come off the M40 and go onto the M25, i always notice the odd graffitti in places but one piece always catches my eye, I might be a bit brainless but i wonder what it means, it says "WHY DO I STILL DO THIS EVERYDAY?" It's massive and covers about 15 panels of fence and stands out from all the others, you must have seen it - black writing, green background. Anyone have any ideas to what the meaning is? Just so when i drive past again this weekend it puts my bored little mind at rest!!

i have always took it to make you think, why oh why do you commute evryday to a job you probably hate, , on a long and boring journey, wasting the earths resources, clogging up the road etc

It certainly used to make me think "yes, why DO i do this everyday, when i could just get a job closer to home, and not spend hours of my life on the road"

I have no idea if that was the intention of the artist though

Could possibly well be that!! Glad i'm not the only person who wondered!!
Whenever i see it i have visions of some silly rich kid (this is Buckinghamshire after all) who's daddy works in the city, went to a posh school, has silly dreadlocks and says 'man' and 'cool' alot - who thought it would be really 'radical' to share this really deep and meaningful piece of nonsense with the rest of us.
After doing it they probably got mummy to pick them up in a Range Rover and went home for a bit of supper and to finish their homework.
To the person who did do it i answer
"Because I have to - you silly naive fool!"
Or it could be an attempt at a joke. As in someone actually cleans the writing off the fence every day, only for the perpetrator to come back and write it on again..

If my memory serves me correctly when the graffitti was first painted the fence used to say "Why do I do this every day?" It was there for ages and then got painted out. Within no time it re-appeared saying "Why do I still do this every day?"

One day I was working with a guy in the area and he told me it was his next door neighbour who did both and the reason was that around 8am every weekday he sat in a stationary queue at that point waiting to join the M25. Like you by now millions of people have seen it and empathised strongly.

PS There used to be some graffitti on the Northwick Park concrete roundabout.anyone remember this famous one "Nicholas Parsons is the neo-opiate of the people."

Yeah, that's right, it did say "why do i do this every day?" then changed to "why do I still do this everyday?" . But has anyone noticced the poor little graffitti that follows after? I think it say "no war" or something like that, waste of time putting it there if you ask me, doesn't really stand out does it? c'mon!!
