A colleague of mine affectionately calls another colleague Verruca as in Verruca Salt of Charlie & the Chocolate factory, she has similar personality traits! He calls another Focker as in Ben Stillers Gaylord Focker, both are accepted humourously by the recepients, and they give as good as they get off beetlejuice!!

many years ago i had a mate called barbara, who hated all the nicknames - babs, barb, barbie etc so i tried to think of one for her - i came up with Lol.

Why?

Well, bear with me, Barbara backwards is arabrab, so arabrab became Lawrence of Arabrabia, so at first she was lawrence, then it was shortened to Lol...mmmm... i know, i know... i was young...

Guy in my workplace is called Tea Bag - his real name is Thomas Bagge.
Once on a college residential trip I was in the wrong room when the teachers came round to check we were all in bed. In my drunken state I cried out "If Maurice asks who's in here, tell him I'm Florence. Then he won't know who I am!"

...It stuck.
A friend of mine used to house share with two guys whose real names were James Dean and Mr Death.

Sad but true

As of a bank holiday weekend of binge-drinking last year in my home town in the plush Surrey stockbroker belt, I managed to upset virtually every landlord and most of their customers inside 72 hours.

For that reason, I'm now known as "******".

Don't know if that qualifies as a nickname.

We used to have a girl at school called Arfur Hyde.

Because she lived in Hyde and put it out alot if you know what I mean!

I also used to work with a bloke called Richard Head

Work it out for yourselves......

Poor man what were the parents thinking???

My nickname was 'Cowherder' ... It's due to my surname (I share it with Noel) and it's historical origins!
