Many years ago, we named our then, 6 week old Russian Blue female kitten Smudge, as she was pure grey, fluffy & in contrast with her white blanket, resembled a little smudge - ah!

My brother had a friend in the Army called Smith, he was nicknamed Smiffy, Smudge & Smudger too!
