Jimmy Young writes a column for the Sunday Express.

There was talk of him doing a weekly political programe on Sunday mornings, but he sulked so much about being moved that it all faded away.

I found him dreadful in every way - a true dinosaur, which is why he had to go. His 'interviews' were dreadful, and he barely tolerated the music that was played - every single link without fail was "That was (insert title here) by (insert artist here) and he talked in that dreadful sing-song voice used only by pre-school children with personality disorders.

He said that Jeremy Vine was not to be allowed in Broadcasting House until he had finished his last few programmes - so much for a graceful handover. Regardless of how Mr Young felt he was ill-treeated by his employers, it was rude and arrogant to assume that stance with his replacement, the excellent Jeremy Vine.

But don't take my word for it - listening figures started, and have continued to rise, when Jimmy Young left and Jeremy Vine took over - and I am sure when his shelf life is over, and it will be one day, he will have the grace and humility to accept that in public service broadcasting, the licence payers come first.

TTFN JIm, and GBR!

Rugeleyboy - just don't listen we stopped just after Jimmy Young retired. We listen on line to Saga it's great.
