Now that the Irish Welsh and Scots have turned England into the modern industrial society it is today by creating and running some of the most successful companies in the world, should they return home and enjoy the fruits of their labours. They can always be called upon to offer help and advice, should things go wrong, if English people are not up to the task.

I think you are getting confused.
I think it was Mark "Return of the Mack' Morrison.
I'm glad to see he has put his bad boy past behind him and is doing well with his supermarket chain. You must have some sympathy with him though after his dad, Jim, died in such tragic circumstances.
Does that answer your question?
What was the question by the way?

gary was it Mark Morrison that made the raincoat popular again? I always thought John Wayne, aka Marion Morrison was his father and was it not Mark who wrote a song about his father looking after a store- "Wayne, a manager?"

Meanwhile, back at the question, I think casaespana is very perceptive.....

Have these Scots anything to do with the Scots in the present Government who are truly making a mess of things and making false promises about what wonderful things they will do?

corbyloom- no you are thinking of Frank Spencer - who of course was Lady Di's older brother.
Didnt she end up marrying Edward Woodwood?
Frank Spencer after being in Phantom of the Opera, where he wore his trademark raincoat, struggled for work afterwards and teamed up with american middle of the road rock singer Richard Marx to form the sandwich and knicker shop Marks and Spencer (of course Richard changed the spelling as not to associated with his rather radical grandad Karl).

If all those other countries are so great (and lets be clear that you can only call them countries because we, the English, allow you to do so) it begs the question as to why there are so many of the Welsh, Scots and Irish clogging up our streets. Please, be our guest - leave!

gammaray - i think you are confusing the welsh, scottish and irish with cars.
Its easy to do though. I had trouble starting my car the other day and could not work out why it wouldnt go. it was only when the rac arrived that i found out that i was trying to drive off in John, my Irish neighbour. we had a good laugh at that one for sure.
Is it true that the Welsh are the Irish who couldn't swim?

Gary, you're on a roll lol ;o)

We were pondering over the weekend as to whether the Welsh might take Birmingham with them, if asked really nicely.....

I'm fairly confident that we all had one thing in common this weekend.... no-one wanted the French to win :o(

John Prescott (or was it Gordon Brown?) once hatched an evil plan to detonate a nuclear bomb in Birmingham which would activate a fault line that would mean that all the area west of Brum would float off into the sea.
They made a documentary about it- i think it was called Superman- and the role of of John Prescott was played by Gene Hackman.
The part of Aled Jones - who saved the Welsh from destruction - was played by Maculay Culkin. Aled Jones' love interest, Terri Hatcher, was played by his real life wife Catherine Zeta Jones.
Yes please, fell free to go home can England then stop the subsidies to them as well? if the Great success (don't make me laugh) of the scottish and welsh assemblies have been so far, can't wait to see how they go in the future. we will give it a go on our own and don't forget to take ****** Gordon Brown with you!!!
Now, now, lets be fair to Gordon Brown, at least he is a TRUE Scotsman. I.E. Living in England at the taxpayers expense!

C'mon....don't let's get too serious. What on earth have the people of Fife done to deserve having BOTH Gordon Brown and Ming Campbell as our local Westminster MPs?

A little sympathy would be appreciated, but if you want to keep them down South then so much the better!
Please.

gary, Catherine Zeta Jones is the wife of Tom Jones. They met and married in Las Vegas many years ago when Tom was working as a croupier, I believe they are about to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary shortly.
Sorry about that ianess lets just send them both abroad somewhere,I love the scots and it isn't fair to inflict gordon brown on you,can we still deport idiots to Australia ?

Back to the question please everyone. Have the people of England got the capacity to run their own country from a commercial point of view (not political) after the Irish, Welsh and Scots depart for pastures new to enlighten other nations in the world? Will the knowledge left behind be put to good use, or squandered by those who could not care less?

No problem,we can sort it,but will the scotch,Irish and welsh want to go home to there own countries and earn half what they do in England? England can manage on its own could the others survive without England?

Oops sorry casa - didnt really this was a 'real' question.
Do apologise for being so academic with my answers and will be less serious in future.
thanks for the tom jones tip. I remember now i saw a documentary called "Mars Attacks' and Tom Jones was in that as a croupier.
So Catherine Zeta Jones isn't married to Jack Douglas anymore? I suppose once the Carry On... work dried up she dropped him like a hot potato.

No offence taken gary. Its just that I can't stand people who get their facts wrong.

ianess. You should be proud about having two distinguished politicians living in Fife. Gordon used to go Starks Park every other saturday to support his beloved Raith Rovers, sitting behind the home goal cheering on his team with great fervour. What a sportsman Ming is. He ran alongside Jeffrey Archer in the four minute mile, second only to the great Robert Bannerman. Ming is a true leader of men.
To be honest, I don't know many English people, and the ones I did know have all moved abroad. So if the Scottish, the Welsh and the wonderful Irish did head back home, old Blighty might be a little empty! ;-)
